Returns & Refunds Policy
In line with Section 20 of the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008
At AC Appliances, we are committed to ensuring customer satisfaction and transparency in line with South African consumer law. Our returns and refunds policy is structured to protect both parties while ensuring you receive quality service.
1. Your Right to Return
Under the Consumer Protection Act, you have the right to return goods under the following conditions:
- You received goods through direct marketing and cancelled the purchase during the cooling-off period.
- You did not have the opportunity to examine the product prior to delivery, and upon receipt, it is unsuitable or not as expected.
- A combination of incorrect goods was delivered.
- The product does not serve the intended purpose that was clearly communicated to us before purchase.
Returns must be initiated within 10 calendar days from the date of delivery (as confirmed by the courier’s Proof of Delivery). Goods must be returned in their original, untampered packaging, with our security seal intact, and the product must not have been installed, used, or altered in any way.
2. Items That Do Not Qualify for Return or Refund
- Special-order parts that are not part of our regular stock.
- Electronic/electrical components (e.g., PC boards, sensors) that have been fitted, removed from packaging, or had the seal tampered with.
- Items damaged due to incorrect handling or installation.
Please ensure your appliance is assessed by a qualified technician before ordering to avoid unnecessary returns.
3. Shipping, Fees & Refund Conditions
- If we sent the incorrect item, we will cover the return and redelivery costs.
- If the correct item was delivered but you ordered incorrectly or changed your mind, return shipping is your responsibility, and original courier fees will not be refunded.
- Refunds are processed within 10 business days, subject to inspection and evaluation of the returned item.
Success Fees & Handling Charges:
- Payment platforms (e.g., PayFast, SnapScan, Mobicred) charge a non-refundable success fee, which will be deducted from your refund.
- Returns in original, sealed condition: 0% handling fee
- Returns with broken seals or damaged packaging: 15% handling fee
- Late returns (beyond 10 days) in sealed condition: 15% handling fee + store credit only
- Late returns with tampered packaging: 25% handling fee + store credit only
4. Shipping Insurance Options
We offer three shipping methods to suit your needs:
- Standard Shipping (No Insurance) – The customer accepts all risk. Damage or loss during transit is not covered by AC Appliances.
- Insured Shipping (up to R3000) – For parcels up to 2kg. Covers the item value only (excludes shipping).
- Insured Shipping (up to R6000) – For parcels up to 10kg. Covers item value only (excludes shipping).
Please note: If you opt for insurance, compensation (in the case of damage/loss) will be provided as store credit only. It remains the customer’s decision to insure a shipment, and we highly recommend doing so.
